BT vs. BBT Tool Holders: Key Differences and Their Impact on High-Speed Machining
Nowadays, high-speed cutting has become an important part of mechanical processing and manufacturing technology. The processing performance of the traditional BT tool system cannot meet the requirements of high-speed cutting. Therefore, the BBT system was developed to fit the nose of the spindle with the end face of the tool to increase rigidity and improve accuracy.
The spindle two-plane positioning system (BBT) is a spindle system that simultaneously achieves positioning through the #TaperSurface and the #EndSurface; BBT has an increased contact area compared to BT, which improves the stability of the spindle and tool holder, suppresses vibration, and easily exerts heavy cutting capabilities, achieving two-plane restraint purpose; suitable for processing with relatively long tool shank overhang, such as large molds, boxes and other parts, which can ensure processing efficiency and surface accuracy!
BBT and BT tools are interchangeable, but only by using BBT tool holders on machine tools with BBT spindles can achieve #Two-PlanePositioning; although the BBT tool holder can be used on the BT spindle, and the BT tool holder can also be used on the BBT spindle, it cannot achieve the two-plane positioning function and cannot achieve the best performance of the BBT tool holder.
TMT's machining centers can be equipped with various types of spindles according to customer needs. If you have other questions about BT and BBT systems, please contact us and we will provide you with more detailed instructions and suggestions!
