Dependability through comprehensive manufacturing capabilities

Key Timing for Tool Replacement in Machine Operations

Long-term processing and production of the machine may cause excessive heat and chemical reactions, causing tool wear. Therefore, you must always pay attention during processing and check the tools to avoid unexpected shutdowns.

Judgment method of tool wear:

  • Make tool life table according to different machining parts;
  • Observe whether there are discontinuous irregular sparks during processing;
  • The color of iron chip changes;
  • The iron chips appear jagged on both sides, abnormally curls, and the chips become finely broken;
  • Bright traces on the surface of the work piece;
  • Noise and vibration increase during processing;
  •  Observe whether there is a significant incremental change in the loading of the machine
    In addition, obvious phenomena such as serious burrs on the work piece, reduced roughness, and changes in the size of the work piece are also criteria for tool wear.
  • If flank wear or crescent wear occurs, please reduce the cutting speed;
  • Coating can improve the deformation resistance of the insert (tool). Choosing an insert with a thinner coating will reduce the coating peeling of the tool
  •  Different preventive measures can be taken to prolong the life as much as possible for cracks, chipping, groove wear, fracture and chips sticking on tool.
